We met with A. İrfan Türkkolu, Secretary General of Chamber of Metallurgical and Materials Engineers (TMMOB) which is the organizer of Heat Treatment Symposium.
We made a short conversation with Mr. A. İrfan Türkkolu, Secretary General of TMMOB about Heat Treatment Symposium and MISAD.
MISAD: Can you give information about Chamber of Metallurgical and Materials Engineers (TMMOB)?
A. İrfak Türkkolu, Secretary General of Metallurgical and Materials Engineers (TMMOB): Chamber of Metallurgical and Materials Engineers (TMMOB) is an occupational organization established in 1970 in accordance with provisions of related law and operating under Union of Chambers of Turkish Engineers and Architects established in 1954.
As known, TMMOB and Trade Associations are occupational organizations considered as a public organization established according to the KHK no 66 and 85 and law no 6235 amended with the law no 7303 forming the basis for Article 135 of the Constitution.
Chamber of Metallurgical and Materials Engineers is one of 24 chambers of Union of Chambers of Turkish Engineers and Architects (TMMOB) which has 485.000 members consisting of engineers, architectures, urban planners country wide and 70 occupational disciplines. Today, it has 4.700 members, a branch in Istanbul, 4 provincial representation and nearly 30 workplace representations country wide.
Our chamber is such an organization that engineers who graduated from Department of Metallurgy, Metallurgical and Materials, Material Science and Ceramic – There is no Ceramic Engineering today – Engineering within the schools of the country or foreign universities become members.
Chamber of Metallurgical and Materials Engineers (TMMOB); issues magazine, bulletin and organizes events such as occupational development courses, seminars, symposiums, panel discussions, forums, congresses and exhibitions. It supports inspection and development of area of professions and colleagues in line with their rights granted by the law.
With such events, our chamber creates platforms which scrutinize related sectors in economical, technological and scientific areas, enables producers, marketers, users and researchers operating in these sectors to share their knowledge and experiences and discuss applications, innovations, problems and solutions about the sector by bringing them together.
MISAD: Can you give information about your future plans related to Heat Treatment Symposium held for the 5th time this year?
A. İrfak Türkkolu, Secretary General of Metallurgical and Materials Engineers (TMMOB): Attraction to Heat Treatment Symposium we held for the 5th time this year is increasing year by year.
This year, the symposium had more participants than previous years. This symposium can be organized in a wider-larger area in the next years.
MISAD: What are your thoughts about MISAD?
A. İrfak Türkkolu, Secretary General of Metallurgical and Materials Engineers (TMMOB): MISAD is a very important association in terms of bringing Heat Treaters together. Although it is newly established foundation, they have progressed well. I believe it will perform much better works.
