The story of Derya Deniz, who changed her career plan completely with the radical decision she made when she was 16, inspired many young girls. Now, many girls, just like Derya, follow the path she opened. Derya s story shows that it is necessary to pursue what is called impossible ...
Derya, who studied Graphic Design in the 10th grade but remained in the class, decides that her talents are not suitable for this profession. She took technical drawing lessons for a while and then, instead of finishing high school, she decided to continue her formal education and enroll in Mimar Sinan Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School to Metal Technology Heat Treatment Department.
This decision at this point was a turning point for Derya. Metal Technology Heat Treatment Department or as the students say in short "heat treatment department" was a great challenge for Derya. She was the only female student of the class and the department ... What they learn and train on is a branch of the heavy industry.. Due to excessive pressure she felt to be forced to leave the department and switch to the Department of Informatics at the same school. In order to get approval she knocked the door of the Department Head Feridun Yüzügüldü.
Feridun Yüzügüldü told Derya that she can be successful more than any other student in the class and asked her to be patient and do not decide immediately. Derya, after coming out of Feridun teacher's room, explains her feelings as: “ Feridun teacher's belief in me strengthened my motivation that day. It increased my belief in myself and my desire to succeed. I believed that I would be successful in overcoming it and I returned with great enthusiasm to finish my class."
She is our source of inspiration and pride.
After restarting her department Derya asked herself:"- Why can't I succeed? What am I missing? Then I looked that I can do many things I thought that I cannot; For example, I can weld very well, I can use cutting tools." The Metal Technology Heat Treatment Branch in the school has been open for 20 years. Her success has led to the arrival of new girls to the department of heat treatment.
During the introductions of the department for 9th grade students, the teachers called her and told her to make one-on-one interviews with the students who would like to choose the department. “There are 10 female students studying Metal Technology Heat Treatment at my school right now.”- she explained.
Derya Deniz, who wrote her own career story and inspired both her sisters and 6 brothers at home, is now proud to be a 19-year-old graduate of Mimar Sinan Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School with the highest ranking. Derya, who is already waiting for university results, said that she wants to be a metallurgical engineer and plans to work in a heat treatment plant in the future.
